Boat
2m x 2m piece of cardboard, waterproofed then folded into the shape of a boat. I took it on a bus to Kensington Gardens and sailed it on the icey Serpentine in front of the Anish Kapoor sculpture. I had a small leak so improvements need to be made.
I live in halls in London so I dont really get much peace and quiet ever. This was an attempt to find a moment of calm in an otherwise hectic environment.
Hussein Chalayan
The designer is known for his innovative use of materials, meticulous pattern cutting and innovative use of new technology. I especially like that his inspiration for his creations is so wide and varied- architectural theory, design, science, technology, religion. However for this reason the designer has been critisised as 'too intellectual', which really sounds to me like more of a compliment.
'Fasion as Furniture' (Autumn/Winter 2000 Collection)- Furniture that mutates into dresses. Chair covers that when take off turn into dresses. Tables that transform into dresses.
Spring/Summer 2000 Collection- Dresses made from the same materials that aeroplanes are made of. Remote controlled panels on the dresses move to reveal delicate tulle petticoats.
Spring/ Summer 2008 Collection- Dresses embellished with crystals and lasers.
Autumn/ Winter 2007 Collection 'Airbourne'- adapting fashion to the weather. Hats that can be used as table lamps. Dresses that change colour through LED technology.

Francis Alÿs
Best known for his actions which he documents in various ways: videos; postcards etc. He also paints, animates and draws. Alys examines modernisation in latin America and the cycles of promise and disappointment that comes with it, he explores these ideas over and over in new ways but without looking for a specific point of resolution. He realised it was impossible to take a position as an observer without being implicated in the situations around him. So he actively began to address local politics.
When I decided to step out of the field of architecture, my first impulse was not to add to the city, but more to absorb what already was there, to work with the residues, or with the negative spaces, the holes, the spaces in between.
He often wondered the streets of his cities photographing things. Walking brings a rich state of conciousness, in our digital age, it is also one of the last private spaces.
-Looking Up, Alys stood looking upwards at nothing in a square in Mexico City until a crowd of people did the same.
-Nightwatch, Let lose a fox in Tate Britain. Caught on CCTV.
-Sometimes Making Something Leads To Nothing, Pusing a giant ice cube round Mexico City until it melted.
-When Faith Moves Mountains, 500 volunteers with spades in a line digging a huge sand dune so it moves a few centimeters in Lima, Peru
-The Green Line, Alys walked along the 1948 armistace line between Isreal and Palestine trailing a line of green paint behind him.
-Sleepers (1999), photographed homeless people representing them as 'unexpected energies' due to the creative ways they appropriated unsued portions of the streets.
- He bought a gun and held in full view while walking the streets of mexico city until he was picked up by the police. However, he told the police it was a piece of art and persuaded them to reconstruct the whole thing again the next day.

Psycho Buildings: Artists Take On Architecture
I went to this exhibition in year 12 with school and it blew my mind.
Artists included in the exhibition are Atelier Bow-Wow, Michael Beutler, Los Carpinteros, Gelitin, Mike Nelson, Ernesto Neto, Tobias Putrih, Tomas Saraceno, Do-Ho Suh, Rachel Whiteread.
These artists are now all my favorites. Especially Gelitin, an Austrian collective that does the most brilliant stuff. Like rollercoasters and boating lakes and giant piss icicles and a huge pink knitted rabbit on a hill and omg too much good stuff you have to look at them.
